I cannot believe it’s December… anyone else?? This year has flown, and it seems like it was February only yesterday.
A little update on what’s been happening in Great Scottland… 🤗
Christmas for me is always such a time of grateful reflection.
Firstly – we have been so incredibly blessed to have our clients this year. It’s been an amazing, abundant year – thank you for choosing us.
I’m so grateful for this God-given life I get to live and the business I’ve been so blessed to steward. 🙌🏼
From Hustle Mountain to the River of Abundance
I used to live on Hustle Mountain – where people strive and hustle with bloodied hands and torn fingernails to get to the peak that is perhaps unreachable. Looking over their shoulder to see who’s coming up, who’s alongside, and who’s beating them – this is the world of comparison and fear of failure. Neither are of God.
After listening to Wayne Dyer’s audiobook Making The Shift (during lockdowns, on my walks) I shifted my way of thinking – focusing on the fact that I actually live in the River of Abundance, in God’s hands. Where the right friends, colleagues, suppliers, P.A.s and clients are brought into my river to float alongside and come for the ride. Where the twists and turns of the river lead us on to beautiful things, despite some rocky patches to get through. It’s an awesome way to live!! 💖
So – welcome to my little piece of the river!!
Huge thanks to those of you reading my newsletters. Sporadic as they may seem, if you know me well, you’ll know I don’t like small talk or talking for the sake of talking. I only send these when I feel inspired.
So now, here we are at the end of our 25th year in business. Unbelievable!! 🥳
Through the years I’ve had the pleasure of working with some incredible trainer/coaches, clients, suppliers and administrators, who I’m so grateful for. Each of you has kept this business flowing.
Welcoming Kyler to the team!
Plus – I’m excited to announce that Kyler Hill has joined the biz. You’ll get to see her from time to time if you’re a client, and if you’re a friend you’ll know she’s Mick’s daughter. We’ve been talking for a long time about me handing the reins over to her eventually, and finally she’s been in a place where she could take the leap – so join me in welcoming her. I’m not planning on retiring fully, but over the next few years I’ll ‘make a shift’ that gives her the space to do what she needs to.
I’ve started the Mayfield Governance course to help me see how that might look, and to explore opportunities to work on boards.
Why I’m planning to live to 150
So no, I’m not planning on fully retiring – why?
Because on my 60th last year a friend said to me, “Wow, only 20 more summers to go!” I replied, “Don’t speak that into my life!!” 🙅🏻♀️
I shared this with a client (thanks Paul) and he promptly sent me an article called My Plan for Living to 156 by Dan Sullivan.
It basically asks the question: why do we die at around 80? It’s almost like a clock is winding down because we’ve been drilled to prepare that 80 is our average age of death. Does it need to be? I don’t accept that.
It’s not that I’m afraid of dying, because I’m not – it’ll bring me into the arms of Jesus, which I cannot wait for.
But while I’m here, I try to live deliberately, not by habit or conditioning. I love to challenge both.
So, I’ve decided I’m going to live to 150. 💪🏼 It changes everything – I’ve got 89 more years to go, so now I’m much younger than I was made to believe! This has really shifted a lot in my mindset and life. Knowing I’ve got a long way to go has confirmed why we’re carnivore for health and longevity, reinforced our need to move our bodies and expand our lungs, and made us look at our finances long-term and plan further ahead.
So I’ll be sending these out for a loooong time yet ha ha – so belt up, buttercup. (I wonder what I’ll be writing about in another 50 years.)
Here’s my little holiday challenge for you:
✨ Pick one thing that will help you live longer, happier, healthier — and don’t wait for New Year’s Day to make a start. Do it now.
I dare ya! 😉
And if you’re brave enough, drop me a note and share your magic elixir with me — I’d love to hear what you choose.
